Point Pleasant Park
Point Pleasant Park is one of the areas of Halifax most cherished by its citizens. Miles of pathways through 186 acres of forest, decaying fortifications, picnic areas, beautiful ocean views -- an integral part of the city's present day life, and of its history. In 1866, the Crown agreed to lease the lands of Point Pleasant Park to the people of Halifax for a term of 999 years at the most reasonable price of One Shilling per year.
Below is one of a number of maps that can be found throughout the Park. You will notice the Park's location on the southern end of the Halifax peninsula, with Halifax Harbour to the left and the Northwest Arm to the right on the map. The top of the map points to the south and the Atlantic Ocean.
