Hydrostone Area

To the west of Fort Needham, along Novalea Drive, is an area of town known as the Hydrostone district.  It was built as part of the post-1917 Explosion reconstruction process in the north end and was completed in 1921.  The grey, heat-compressed block used in the rebuilding was sourced from a company in Chicago -- the trade name for the product was Hydrostone.
