Government House

The official residence of the Lieutenant-Governor of Nova Scotia, Government House is located on Barrington Street south of the T-intersection of Barrington with Spring Garden Road, and across from the Old Burying Ground.  The third 'Government House' to be built, with the first one standing at the present location of Province House, construction began in 1800 under the guidance of John Wentworth, the province's governor.  The Governor and his Lady moved into Government House in 1805, with further work continuing on the house for years after.
