Convoy Assembling, Bedford Basin, 1942

View from head of Bedford Basin, looking south toward the Altantic.  The peninsula of Halifax is the dark mass to the top of the photo, with the Harbour Narrows at top left and the thin strip of the Northwest Arm at top right.  Over 100 ships could assemble freely and safely in Bedford Basin.  Submarine nets across the Harbour approaches kept out the U-boats.
