Cenotaph

Grand Parade

At the centre of the Grand Parade is Halifax's Cenotaph.  It reads "In Honour of Those Who Served; In Memory of Those Who Fell" in the three major conflicts involving Canada this century:  the First World War; the Second World War; and, the Korean Conflict.

The Cenotaph was erected in 1929 and was designed by Canadian sculptor Massey Rhind, and is not unlike the cenotaph at Whitehall in London.
